How You Can Help NAT GEO

Nat Geo "Umsuka"

Umsuka needs your support in spreading the good word concerning important scientific discoveries in the Cradle of Humankind (and beyond) that bring us all a better understanding of our common origins so that we may unite in a shared future.

  • If you are an employer, consider enrolling your staff in the Cradle Ambassadors course to create a community ethic within Gauteng that supports sustainable and ethical tourism regarding our human origins.
  • If you are a teacher or parent, encourage your schools or youth groups to get in contact in order to provide meaningful talks on various topics (e.g., Fossil Hominin Discoveries in the Cradle of Humankind; Celebrating Human Variation; Human Evolutionary Theory; Thinking Like a Scientist; Heritage Day Every Day, Rising Star Expedition and the Discovery of Homo naledi- presented by one of original “Underground Astronauts”, etc.) or even interactions with fossil hominin and/or primate skull casts, all tailored to your age group and CAPS-aligned. Don’t see what you’re looking for? Contact us for help in customising your own presentation!
  • If you are a donor, request a meeting with our program manager for concrete suggestions regarding ways you or your company can become involved.
  • If you are an Umsuka participant, share what you know and love about the Cradle of Humankind and look for more opportunities to learn even more!

Umsuka is the beginning.

The program may still be small but its impact continues to grow. We need your help to extend our reach so that all South Africans can come to know and value the amazing fossil hominin resources of the Cradle of Humankind and how they connect each of us in the past and into the future. Attached is our current “Wish List”, as a guide for areas that would be of greatest assistance in spreading our mission and help us to become self-sustainable, but of course, help of any nature would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for taking the time to read our request and for any help you may be able to.
